Sam Burns is an American professional golfer who was born on July 23, 1996, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University (LSU) and competed on the LSU Tigers golf team.
Burns turned professional in 2017 and played on the Web.com Tour before earning his PGA Tour card for the 2018-2019 season. In 2021, Burns won his first PGA Tour title at the Valspar Championship, finishing ahead of Keegan Bradley and Viktor Hovland.
As of August 2021, Burns has achieved four top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour and finished T49 at his only major championship appearance at the 2018 U.S. Open. He is known for his consistent ball-striking and his approach play and has been compared to fellow PGA Tour player Justin Thomas for his game style and stature.
